ACVRL1
Associated conditions:
- High blood pressure
ACVRL1 makes ALK1, a receptor that helps blood vessels form and mature properly. Genetic changes in this gene are associated with an autosomal dominant condition called hereditary haemorrhagic telangiectasia, producing fragile vessels that bleed and abnormal connections in the lungs and brain, and can also drive pulmonary hypertension. Knowing your genetic status enables screening that protects against strokes and dangerous bleeds.
Conditions linked to ACVRL1
High blood pressure
High blood pressure (hypertension) makes the heart and arteries work harder and, over time, raises the risk of heart, kidney and blood-vessel problems. Inherited forms exist, so knowing your risk supports regular monitoring and early treatment.
