CALM3
Associated conditions:
- Arrhythmia
CALM3 makes calmodulin, a calcium-sensing protein that helps time the electrical signals controlling each heartbeat. Genetic changes in this gene are associated with an autosomal dominant risk of severe arrhythmia syndromes such as long QT syndrome and Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT), which can trigger fainting or sudden cardiac arrest in young people. Knowing your genetic status enables medication and activity precautions.

Arrhythmia
An arrhythmia is an abnormal heart rhythm. Inherited forms can cause fast, irregular or dangerous rhythms and, rarely, sudden collapse, so carriers benefit from heart-rhythm testing, sometimes medication, and avoiding specific triggers.
