TECRL
Associated conditions:
- Arrhythmia
TECRL makes a protein in heart muscle that helps regulate the movement and storage of calcium, which controls each heartbeat. Genetic changes in this gene disturb calcium handling and are associated with an autosomal recessive condition with features of both Catecholaminergic polymorphic ventricular tachycardia (CPVT) and long QT syndrome, causing stress-triggered dangerous rhythms. Knowing your genetic status enables protective medication and activity precautions.

Arrhythmia
An arrhythmia is an abnormal heart rhythm. Inherited forms can cause fast, irregular or dangerous rhythms and, rarely, sudden collapse, so carriers benefit from heart-rhythm testing, sometimes medication, and avoiding specific triggers.
