LAMP2
Associated conditions:
- Cardiomyopathy
LAMP2 makes a protein that lets cells clear out and recycle worn components through the lysosome. Genetic changes in this X-linked gene are associated with Danon disease, an often severe heart-muscle disorder with rhythm disturbances, mainly in males but also affecting females. Knowing your genetic status enables early diagnosis and heart monitoring, since the condition can progress quickly.

Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy is disease of the heart muscle that can make it thickened, enlarged or weakened. Inherited forms can affect the heart’s pumping or rhythm, so carriers are monitored with heart scans and ECGs and treated early to protect heart function.
