TPM1
Associated conditions:
- Cardiomyopathy
TPM1 makes tropomyosin, a protein that regulates when heart muscle filaments engage and how forcefully the heart contracts and relaxes. Genetic changes in this gene alter this control and are associated with an autosomal dominant risk of hypertrophic or dilated cardiomyopathy. Knowing your genetic status enables heart monitoring that catches problems early, since such changes can develop silently.
Conditions linked to TPM1
Cardiomyopathy
Cardiomyopathy is disease of the heart muscle that can make it thickened, enlarged or weakened. Inherited forms can affect the heart’s pumping or rhythm, so carriers are monitored with heart scans and ECGs and treated early to protect heart function.
